He started beat boxing in 1990. He was beat boxing for rap groups, solo rappers and battled other beat boxers. With this he created a name for himself. Gel had attracted his own fans. A lot of local artists loved for him to beat boxed for them. In 1992, he joined a group called Bullfish II and at the same time he became Beat Effect. Beat Effect did the beat boxing for Bullfish II. They did shows all over Cleveland, Ohio.

When beat boxing became silent, Beat Effect found another way to translate his beats using the keyboard. This made his beats even more unique. He started doing beats for up and coming record labels and different types of artists and recording songs with known stars such as:
